Free Theatre Tickets Bring Christmas Cheer to Eastbourne

This Christmas, The Royal Hippodrome Theatre Company, headed by Sarah Dormady and Susie Blundell, is putting on a cracking show that is full of festive cheer and, to celebrate the end of a very successful year, the theatre is putting on a very special extra Charity performance for the community on Thursday 26th November at 6pm.

The event is being held to raise funds for both the theatre’s restoration fund and ‘Starlight’, the charity that makes wishes come true for local children in hospitals and hospices. Tickets for the show are free but patrons are asked to pay what they think the show is worth, or to simply give a donation, after the show.

Darren Weir for the theatre said, “This is the third time we have offered free tickets to the community to see a show. It gives us a great opportunity to reach out to the locals and to try and get them to visit the theatre when they might not normally think about doing so.”

The variety show is produced by the same team that brought the critically acclaimed ‘White Christmas’, ‘Disney’s Little Mermaid‘ and last year’s ‘Christmas Cracker‘ to the theatre.

This year’s offering, The Royal Hippodrome Theatre Christmas Variety Show, has everything that appeals to audiences of all ages from tap dancing penguins, comical grumpy old men and pantomime cows to great songs, comedy sketches and dazzling set and costumes.

The show, which opened on 5th November, has been entertaining audiences every Thursday at 2.30pm and, if the smiles on the faces of patrons largely in Eastbourne for Turkey and Tinsel breaks, are anything to go by – it looks as though the company has a hit on its hands.

The show has two further Thursday matinees (26th Nov & 3rd Dec) left before it comes back on Saturday 19th December for a Christmas run until Sunday 27th December.

Tickets, for the free performance, the Thursday matinees and for the Christmas season are available by calling 01323 802020 or online at www.royalhippodrome.com. Please note – the free tickets are limited to 2 per address and will be available from Friday 20th November at 10am.
