With the UK economic recovery taking root, is now the right time for Sussex businesses to be planning for growth through acquisition?
That’s the question being posed at a seminar at South Lodge Hotel, Horsham on October 8 designed to help companies in Sussex rethink the way they drive revenue and profits.
“For many businesses, their recent history is one of working harder for lower margins and only modest growth,” says Robert Dowling, a mergers and acquisitions expert at chartered accountants Carpenter Box.
“But with economic prospects brightening, now might be just the time to consider growth through acquisition as a means of building resources, strengthening market penetration and growing margins and profitability.”
The seminar will cover how to spot potential targets, how businesses are valued and how to shape acquisitions and disposals to optimise tax regulations.
Among the speakers will be Kevin Wheelhouse, who built his own manufacturing business, partly through acquisition, and quadrupled sales before negotiating a successful exit. He now works within the Carpenter Box corporate finance team.
