Arundel Castle in West Sussex will host a series of thrilling car events this year including two brand new displays for 2017.
The ancient Castle, which celebrates the 950th anniversary of its initial construction this year, has got six motoring events lined up this season – kick starting with the MG Owners Club Gathering on 9 April.
Always a hugely popular event, this year’s MG display will take place on the Castle’s Lower Lawns with 150 vehicles, ranging in age from the late 1920s to modern day sports models.
April also welcomes Morgan Cars to Arundel Castle for the first time this year. Established in 1909, Morgan Cars are made by the last remaining family owned UK motor manufacturer and on 23 April, visitors to the Castle will get the chance to marvel at these classic British cars.
Another new feature for 2017 is the Borgward Owners Club display on 13 May. Owners of these German-made cars will travel from across the UK and Europe to showcase their stunning vehicles including Borgward’s best known model, the Isabella, which was popular in the late 1950s.
The much-loved Jaguar Day (6 August) and Jaguar XK & Jaguar FT Enthusiasts’ Club (12 August) will also return this season. As well as enjoying a fascinating display of classic Jaguars and modern day super cars, the vehicle owners will also be on hand to answer any questions at both events.
Key dates for your diary are:
• MG Owners Club Gathering (9 April)
• Morgan Cars (23 April)
• Borgward Drivers’ Club (13 May)
• MG Rover Sussex Group Visit (21 May)
• Jaguar Days (6 August, 12 August)
Arundel Castle will also host members of the Sussex British Motorcycle Club, together with members of other invited clubs, on 14 May. Visitors to the event will be able to see many famous brands from the glory days of British motorcycling including Ariel, Norton and Triumph.
Castle Manager, Bryan McDonald, comments: “Whether you are a classic car enthusiast, a fast car fanatic or a motorbike devotee, we’ve got an event for you.
“We are really excited to be hosting motoring favourites this year as well as two brand new displays. Seeing these beautiful vehicles up close is a treat especially when, set against the backdrop of Arundel Castle.”
Arundel Castle will reopen on 01 April from 10am until 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday, Mondays in August and Bank Holiday Mondays.
