Councillors and officers of Hastings Borough Council will be taking part in Seaview’s Big Sleep by sleeping rough in cardboard boxes to raise money for Seaview.
Cllr Andy Batsford, portfolio holder for housing said” the Big Sleep has become a great annual event that raises much needed money for the Seaview project , the work it does with the most vulnerable members of our community and to highlight the issue of homelessness that Hastings Council takes very seriously.
He added that, “It cannot be underestimated the massive impact sleeping rough has on individuals health and mental wellbeing, while placing them in a dangerous position to be exploited or become a victim of crime. I am proud of the members and officers that are supporting the Big Sleep. Please help them raise a good amount of money for such an important charity. “
The event takes place at the Stade Open Space overnight on Friday/Saturday 22/23 September 2017, from 7:30 pm Friday to 7:00 am Saturday.
This year the Big Sleep Live music event will be supporting the Big Sleep, and will run from 8pm to 10pm and includes Dr Savage, The Rufus Stone Band and King Size Slim.
