The Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells is very proud to announce that Dani Harmer, best known to millions of children for her starring role in CBBC’s highly successful series The Story of Tracy Beaker and Tracy Beaker Returns, winner of the 2010 Children’s BAFTA for Best Drama, will play the title role in Cinderella this Christmas.
Dani starred as Tracy Beaker from the age of twelve and played the character for six successful series, also receiving a BAFTA nomination for her performance in 2010. Her own hit CBBC show, Dani’s House received a Children’s BAFTA nomination in 2009. During its last series, Tracy Beaker Returns received the highest ratings ever for the CBBC channel.
2012 saw Dani perform in the hugely popular, BBC1 series Strictly Come Dancing reaching the final with her professional dance partner Vincent Simone. She also took part in the 2013 Strictly Come Dancing National Tour dancing with Pasha Kovalev. On stage, Dani started her acting career aged six. She performed in the West End musical Tommy, and the national tour of Annie. Dani has previously starred in the pantomimes Peter Pan, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick Whittington and The Wizard of Oz. She also starred in the 40th Anniversary Tour of The Rocky Horror Show.
In a second pantomime announcement it was also confirmed that Louise Jamieson will make wishes come true as the Fairy Godmother. Best known for her role as Rosa di Marco in BBC 1’s top soap opera EastEnders, she also became known to millions of television viewers through her roles in such popular television series as BBC’s Doctor Who, Tenko and Bergerac.
Brian McAteer, Theatre Director says “We are thrilled that one of the biggest stars of children’s TV will be spending Christmas in Tunbridge Wells. Cinderella is a great story and once again, the Assembly Hall Theatre will be presenting a pantomime for the whole family packed with laughs, songs and music”.
The show is once again produced by UK Productions, and Producer Martin Dodd said “ Cinderella is one of the most popular pantomimes of all time and I am thrilled that we are bringing it to the Assembly hall Theatre following last year’s hugely successful production of Peter Pan. Dani Harmer and Louise Jameson are both hugely experienced stage actresses as well as being known for the high profile television roles and I know that once again we will have a magical comedy spectacular to thrill audiences over the festive period.
