Digital event is Littlehampton’s cup of tea

Over 100 people attended the first ever Digital Tea Party at Littlehampton Library last week (Thursday 6 October).
Residents brought along their laptops, tablets and smart phones to the tea party with a list of challenges they wanted to tackle online. This event also provided top tips on staying safe online.

Launched as part of National Customer Service Week, the tea party was hosted by experts from West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council, Barclays Digital Eagles and O2.

Louise Goldsmith, Leader of West Sussex County Council, said: “What a successful event – I was delighted to see how many people popped in for some advice. Everyone who attended had their questions answered and left with valuable advice and information. It was great to see so many people helping each other and hopefully some new friendships will have been formed as a result”.
Bob Lanzer, WSCC Cabinet Member for Corporate Relations “Thank you to our officers and partners who came together to host the event and for making it such a success”.

Arun District Council Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr Paul Wotherspoon attended the event and said “It is exciting to see how
popular this event has been and how many people took advantage of the knowledge and skills of those presenting and demonstrating. This is a real asset for the community and I look forward to the success of future events”.

With the Digital Tea Party having proved so popular, there are plans to host others across West Sussex. The next one is being planned to take place in Crawley Library, date to be confirmed.
