After an unfamiliarly quiet period, Eastbourne lifeboat was back in action on the afternoon of Sept 21st when called to assist a broken down fishing boat
The volunteer crew of Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat were paged into action this afternoon when a local non-commercial fishing vessel suffered engine failure almost 5 miles offshore from Sovereign Harbour. The 26ft vessel with two people on board reported problems to Dover Coastguard at 2.45pm who requested the launch of the ALB. The stricken vessel was taken under tow and passed to the harbour workboat in the outer harbour of Sovereign Harbour.
