John Smith is an ordinary man with extraordinary talent. The guitar man from Devon is quietly becoming recognized as one of the most exciting voices on the British Folk scene.
John got his big break into music when stewarding at The International Guitar Festival, where an entrant didn’t arrive for their slot in an Acoustic Guitarist of the Year Competition, leaving John to take his place and the title, which he won.
He has spent several years solidly on the road, touring with folk legend John Martyn and accompanying Davy Graham on his final UK tour. He has also supported John Renbourn, David Gray, Martin Carthy, and has shared the stage with Cara Dillon, James Yorkston and Martin Simpson and returns to The Hawth following his appearance at the 2009 Folk Festival.
John Smith’s voice has been described as big, burnished, raw and romantic, book your tickets now and come along and hear ‘one man, a guitar and an incredible voice… mesmerising’ (bbc.co.uk) in The Hawth Studio this November.
Tickets priced £13 (discounts: £11) are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 or you can book online at www.hawth.co.uk.
