Lee Mead, currently starring in BBC One’s Holby City, is also managing to fit in a theatre tour with a show entitled Lee Mead – My Story and he will be coming to the region, as part of the Hever Castle Festival, on Saturday 27th July (with more dates in the region to follow – see below). Lee Mead – My Story will be a “stripped down” show that will combine conversation and music and see Lee reflect on his life and career.
Audiences will have the chance to listen to Lee chat about the magical moments, the highs the lows, the memories of his life and, of course, to hear performances of the songs that mean so much to him, and his fans, and that have put him centre stage.
Selected from thousands of performers Lee was thrust into the spotlight in 2007 to play the iconic lead role in the West End revival of Joseph, which enjoyed an incredible run that had to be extended to satisfy public demand to see Lee wear the coat of many colours, and probably the loincloth too!
From that point Lee’s career has been a never-ending rollercoaster of engagements from stage to screen. In the West End Lee has appeared in such classic musicals as Wicked and Legally Blonde and he also starred in the touring production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, to name just a few. On television Lee has been a regular in Casualty and Holby City starring as Lofty Chiltern – a part written especially for him.
On the recording front Lee has released five albums – the most recent of which, Lee Mead – 10 Year Anniversary, was released to celebrate the ten years that have passed since Lee won the coveted role of Joseph. Lee has also featured on countless other recordings, including The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
In 2019 Lee wants to share his life stories directly with his fans in an evening that will include an intimate interview, where Lee gets the opportunity to talk not only as Lee the showman but also as Lee the man and perform some favourite songs with a simple piano accompaniment.
This is Lee Mead, this is a dream that became a reality, this is his story!
