Iconic Feel Good Classic Comes To Life On Stage

The Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne and The Connaught Theatre, Worthing are both perfect settings for the acclaimed stage adaptation of the classic Frank Capra film It’s A Wonderful Life, which plays in Eastbourne from Thursday 19th – Saturday 21st November before moving to Worthing from Tuesday 24th November – Thursday 26th November.

This is the iconic story of idealist George Bailey, whose dreams look set to be dashed by small-town scandal and big business. Alone on a bridge, he decides that everyone would be better off without him… or would they? It falls to hapless guardian angel, Clarence, to try and save him.

In a new production that premiered to excellent reviews in London last year, the magical story of Frank Capra’s iconic film is retold as a radio play, complete with sound effects created live on stage. This loving tribute to the golden era of the wireless is a fresh take on a heart-warming and timely classic.

It is 69 years since the film was produced, when it was first released it performed poorly at the box office but went on to become an undisputed classic which was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture.

In this stage adaptation Oliver Stoney (Call The Midwife) takes the part of George with the remaining 32 roles divided between just five other actors which include: David Benson (1 Man 2 Guvnors and Dr Who), Richard Albrecht (Mount Pleasant, Midsommer Murders), Lynsey Beauchamp and Augustina Seymour.
