Hi everyone, my name is John Sanford and I am 27 and come from Sompting. One of my passions in life is cooking and through the power of the internet I have been able to express my cooking styles on the social networking site named “Facebook”.
I created a page on Facebook named “John Sanford’s recipes”, where I could easily channel all the recipes that I have cooked and would be cooking in the future.
I cook in a unique way, in that I photo every single step I take in cooking from the beginning photo which would be all the ingredients on a gold tray, to the preparation stages, then onto the cooking stages and finished up with the final photo which is the cooked final product. I simply source recipes that are cheap, easy to do but hold a great taste and look. I search for recipes that not many would of heard of, and use this new knowledge I have gained in showing others how fun cooking can really be.
For me cooking is more that simply chucking a few ingredients together and eating what you have made, I like to make food as artistic as I can, by making it look and taste great. The whole experience of eating is done through your eyes first then taste after, so if you can see something that looks good, you may in fact like the taste as well. I have up to the date cooked 93 recipes from over 18 countries that includes main, dessert and drinks recipes.
Only the last few months I have included fruit in every recipe that I have produced, using fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, pineapples and apples. I find that fruit can really enhance a recipe and give it a huge lift in flavour. It is of course really good for you, holding vital vitamin c but it also give you a huge depth in flavour. This new way of looking at fruit has really opened up my eyes to new and exciting recipes that if I hadn’t of tried the very first lemon induced chicken recipe then I would of never of known of this vast array of fruit based recipes.
I have also found out that my general well being and health have improved since eating so many fruit recipes, this has made me love all the different ways you can use fruit and I will carry on with this journey to show to others that cooking can be a healthier experience but still taste aromatic. This is a good example of why I enjoy the whole experience of cooking, as it is the variety of recipes you can create and you can also produce on a low budget. Cooking is only as hard as you want to make it for yourself but it can also be a world that enriches you and it will stay with you for the rest of your life.
The people that view my recipes is another reason why I love doing what I do, I get to show them my cooking styles and what food I like. I give to them a little piece of me on a plate for them to cherish for the rest of their lives. This to me is a great honour to know that I get to show a huge audience my artistic styles and know that they like what I do.
In life if people like what you do and you enjoy doing what others like of you, then you will think to yourself that you should carry on and keep producing food that has a certain appeal, or more simply put showing others who I am in the form of cooking. I enjoy it immensely that I am a person that people look at for advice in food and help in making their dinner times much more fun. It gives me a huge sense of self pride that I have cooked over 90 recipes and that I have been able to taste so many different flavours and textures, this for me is why I love what I do and I won’t ever stop as it is what makes me who I am.
