As the sixth and final TV series of BBC’s Downton Abbey is in full flow, Luke Kempner invites you to the Devonshire Park Theatre on Tuesday 3rd November to experience the drama of Downton live and as you’ve never seen it before with his one-man show, The Only Way is Downton!
Direct from a West End run and American tour, Luke Kempner’s tour-de force impressions comedy returns to Eastbourne in an updated version featuring new material. This is essential viewing for all Downton fans ahead of the Christmas finale of the beloved TV drama.
As celebrities start appearing at the Abbey, cultures clash and eras hilariously collide in this brilliant new parody, which takes in many other popular TV shows and familiar modern voices to help the cast of Downton save the estate from financial ruin – again!
Having made his name with YouTube hit Downstairs at Downton, and appearances in musicals including Les Miserables and Avenue Q, Kempner’s debut solo show won critical acclaim and sell-out audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe in both 2013 and 2014.
In its final series this Autumn, Downton Abbey is the popular ITV series starring Hugh Bonneville and Maggie Smith set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, depicting the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.
Praised by members of the TV show cast and described by Stephen Fry as “A fine impressionist, giving a splendid display of Downtonry” Luke Kempner effortlessly switches between the dulcet tones of Lord Crawley to the clipped voice of Mrs Patmore the cook making this a must-see for Downton Abbey fans and comedy impression fans alike.
The Only Way is Downton is at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne on Tuesday 3rd November at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced at £18, with concessions available, and can be booked by calling the box office on 01323 412000 or online at www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk.
