Supporting the future of manufacturing in Sussex
The popular Sussex Manufacturing Forum will be meeting on 16 April at the South Lodge Hotel in Horsham and promises to have something for everyone involved in the manufacturing and engineering industries throughout Sussex.
The free Forum is sponsored by the Manufacturing Group at Worthing-based Carpenter Box accountants and tax advisers and HSBC Bank.
At the April meeting, Southwater-based Sony group company Sony DADC will give an insight into how they have managed to continuously develop their business involving the manufacture, packaging and distribution of Blu Rays, DVDs and CDs through increased automation and how they plan to meet the challenges of diversification as the era of downloads and streaming diminishes the market for tangible media.
Chartered Tax Adviser Stuart Noakes, Head of the Tax Group at Carpenter Box will also update the Forum on the latest news on Research & Development Tax Credits and the Patent Box regime where evidence suggests that businesses could be missing out on significant amounts of tax relief through a misunderstanding of what R&D actually is.
Finally, The Sussex Innovation Centre will provide some helpful advice to manufacturers who are keen to improve their businesses by taking the next step towards achieving growth.
Chris Coopey, one of the facilitators of the Forum and head of the Manufacturing Group at Carpenter Box, said: “This Forum often results in some lively debate around a wide range of issues impacting on manufacturers and from previous events I know that many attendees pick up valuable hints and tips for their own business by simply talking and listening to other manufacturers.”
The Forum will commence at 8am on 16 April and light refreshments will be provided.
