Eastbourne’s chart-topping band Toploader celebrates the release of their latest single with a series of live dates including one at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre on February 21.
The band returned to music in 2011, after an eight-year hiatus, with their third studio album Only Human produced by Danton Supple who is known for his work with Coldplay and Morrissey. It included the singles Never Stop Wondering, A Balance To All Things and She Said which led lead singer Joseph Washbourn to compete in ITV’s Popstar to Operastar in which he reached the semi-finals.
Toploader originally became known for their cover of 70s hit Dancing in the Moonlight, part of their first album Onka’s Big Moka which debuted at number five in the UK charts in 2000. The band went on to perform with Coldplay, Muse, Paul Weller and Robbie Williams across the UK before supporting Bon Jovi on their Crush tour which made them the last British band to play at the original Wembley Stadium.
Toploader’s forthcoming single, Turn It Around, was co-written with Ivor Novello Songwriter Of The Year Eg White and will be a key part of their live set along with their most recent release, This is the Night, which became the most-played track on Radio 2 in October.
The band will be supported by singer/songwriter Rachel Hawker before Worthing-based six-piece The Daunts take to the stage. The Daunts are known for their mix of gravel-driven rock ‘n’ roll like Gotcha Number and piano-fuelled ballads including Out of Time which has led them to build a following in Brighton, at London’s Troubadour Club and set up an April date for Hollywood’s Whisky-a-go-go.
Toploader’s Worthing gig will also see them revisit all of their singles including Dancing In The Moonlight, Achilles Heel and Time Of My Life as well as introducing fans to their new material.
