Dear Sir: Your Review of Tree Fu Tom Live

Dear Sir

I write re the recently posted review of Tree Fu Tom Live, penned by Paul Lucas-Scott following a performance at Hastings White Rock Theatre. As producer of the show, I was both surprised and disappointed with some of Mr Lucas-Scott’s comments and would therefore hope to set the record straight on a couple of points? I appreciate this is his personal opinion, but my main point of concern is the line –

“some rather cheap scenery”

This begs the question – was Mr Lucas-Scott privy to the budget and what would he expect this to be? We are an experienced children’s production company who pride ourselves on high production values. For the record, the scenery and costume budget were a considerable cost for a show offering a £10.50 ticket. It also mentioned a 90 minute running time – it was actually 70, geared specifically to a child’s attention span. Unfortunately, it is inaccuracies such as these that could be detrimental to our production and business, hence my wish to clarify these points.

I always welcome and respect feedback of any kind, but in this instance felt obliged to comment as we have been handed a disservice through inaccuracies within the piece. We’ve had some lovely feedback from parents and children alike across the tour and so I am sorry the reviewer did not enjoy his experience on the day.

Regards

Nick George
