Wow! Enjoy a world of words in Worthing

Worthing Library is celebrating WOW: Worthing World of Words Festival 2016 by offering a selection of exciting and inspirational events for adults and children.

Saturday 28 May and Saturday 4 June: A short reading of James and the Giant Peach, dipping in to parts of this much-loved children’s story to coincide with the theme of this summer’s Children’s Parade which will take place on Saturday 18 June. Free tickets available from Worthing Library. For children aged seven and over. 10am to 10.25am.

Tuesday 31 May: Adults are invited to share an evening with members of CHINDI, a group of successful self-published authors from Chichester.  Find out how to go from inspiration to publication and get advice on each stage of the process. There will be the opportunity to meet the authors, browse their books, pick their brains and have a free coffee too. Signed copies will be available to buy for cash or cheque on the night. Starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £4, available from Worthing Library.

Tuesday 7 June: A special lunchtime talk called ‘Book deals, a bus pass and babies!’ with local author Sheila Rance, author of the original fantasy adventure Sun Catcher, reviewed in The Guardian as ‘Game of Thrones for a younger audience’. She talks about how it’s done – or at least how she managed to do it. As a Sussex author, who went  to school in Worthing, she will take the audience on a writer’s odyssey into the world of agents, publishing houses and book deals. And now, with a film option for Sun Catcher on the horizon, she thinks that perhaps Sun Catcher should be called Dream Catcher!
12.10 – 12.50pm. Free event, no ticket required but please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
