Music Visionary takes on ultimate challenge to help bereaved forces children smile again

Danny Rampling, an iconic DJ and music producer, will swap his decks for boots, as he gets ready to take on 10-mile Paras’ 10, to raise money for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that helps bereaved British Forces children smile again.

The former Radio 1 DJ and KISS FM Broadcaster, who now lives in Sussex, will tackle the “ultimate 10-mile endurance challenge” with his 35lbs Bergen weighted back pack in tow, for the third time at Colchester Garrison and plans to raise up to £2000 for the military charity.
The endurance race is based on The Parachute Regiment’s 10-mile selection run and Danny has previously completed the event in just 2 hours 20 minutes.
Music legend Danny said: “Scotty’s carries out tremendous work – bringing joy to the lives of so many children. Paras’ 10 is really tough but it will definitely be worth it – it’s also a great day out and there’s such a wonderful atmosphere.
“I’ve donated to the charity before but this will be my first solo fundraising effort and I’m excited to see the good Scotty’s can do with the money I raise. I also have my fingers crossed that I can beat my previous times.”
Nikki Scott, founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers said: “Everyone at Scotty’s wishes Danny the very best of luck and I’m excited to catch-up with him to see how it goes.
“We’re extremely grateful to all those who fundraise for Scotty’s and it is because of them that we are able to carry out our valuable work and help children who have been through the worst look towards a brighter future. If you’re considering fundraising for Scotty’s, we would love to hear from you, so please get in touch.”
Nikki Scott founded Scotty’s Little Soldiers after she lost her husband Lee Scott while he was in Afghanistan and saw how this loss affected their children Kai and Brooke. The charity supports and offers guidance to children up to and including the age of 18 who have lost a parent serving in the British Armed Forces. This support ranges from holidays to retreats, professional bereavement counselling and personal development advice to older children.

Paras’ 10 takes entrants on a testing 10-mile challenge around the local training route at Colchester Garrison based in Essex, and includes multiple obstacles and stream crossings

Danny will join thousands of other entrants on Sunday 15th May.
