Comics, space, science and much, much more – West Sussex ‘Geek Week’ is back with a big bang.
From Friday 28 October to Saturday 5 November, Geek Week returns for its second year in libraries across the county – with events and activities celebrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), books and reading.
There is a wide variety of activities to get involved in, including:
Get Stuck in Days
Do exactly what it says on the tin and get stuck in! Join in with fun-filled days full of free workshops and drop-in events for people of all ages.
Saturday 29 October – Horsham and Worthing libraries.
Saturday 5 November – Chichester and Crawley libraries.
Popular Culture Quiz
Grab yourself a team of six and prove your pop culture knowledge! There’s prizes on offer for the winners, and overall county champions.
Thursday 3 November – Chichester, Crawley, Horsham, Lancing and Worthing libraries.
On this day with… eInformation
Have you ever wondered what else happened in the world on your birthday or on any other date in history? Come to a drop-in session run by an Information Librarian and look at electronic resources to find out!
Taking place at Broadfield, Chichester, Crawley, Rustington, Shoreham and Storrington libraries.
Challenge – your choice…
Dare to try something different with a reading challenge! Read a book set in the future, revisit a book you loved as a child, or delve into a graphic novel – or try one of the other nine challenge suggestions.
All libraries will have bookmarks with the challenges and displays to help you choose.
Other events will include ‘Messy Science’ at East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, as well as eComic drop-ins at Burgess Hill and Crawley.
There’s also Family History Fun at Littlehampton and a talk by Nigel Peake, father of astronaut Tim, at Midhurst.
