What happened three days ago was a farce beyond belief. My wife’s computer had been playing up. So being of sound mind I decided to download some programme that stated it was free until the programme stated that having found so many errors, it needed me to pay for the full version before it could continue.
I would call this under the heading of misrepresentation and it tends to be a CON and that nothing is free. Before parting with any money I would like to see proof that their programme actually works, anyway that alone is not the main problem, but it is worth mentioning.
When dealing with PAYPAL you don’t want to forget your password which I unfortunately had. First of all I wanted to pay by not using PAYPAL. This seemed to be the best way forward until of course I filled in the information they needed. Name, address – that seemed straightforward enough until we came to the card – a debit card. The number wasn’t accepted because it stated it was out of date which is peculiar because I stated on the form a future date it would expire – but the company still insisted that it was false – so I gave up on that Company.
I tried PAYPAL – yes the card was fine, but they disbelieved my birth date – no matter how I try to be younger than I really am – I can’t actually change the date of my birth. Would I like to answer personal questions – Yes – what a good idea. What’s the name of your first Cat? – Correct answer. Which Hospital were you born? – One of your answers is wrong – it stated. I should know the name of the hospital I was born as it states this on my birth certificate. They tried another ploy – we will give you a number and you ring us. Ah! I thought we might be getting somewhere. So I rang the number only to have a recorded message “INFORMING ME THAT THIS NUMBER WAS NO LONGER IN USE” and at this juncture I was beginning to think I was dealing with either ROBOTS or MORONS – I came to the conclusion it had to be the latter.
PAYPAL then said it would send me an email with a Verification Code to a email address of my choice and as we have three – I chose the one that I always use. I waited and waited and waited and then I thought perhaps they don’t speak English and didn’t understand the answer and sure enough having checked the box of another of my email addresses – there was my verification code. This code had been the third one in succession because when I tried to use the code, it took me back as it had with the two codes beforehand to the original page where it stated: “HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN YOUR PASSWORD?” There was also some sort of controversy over what should have been written on my card – a single number next to the word ISSUE imprinted – No such Word – No such number!
Another message appeared on the computer screen stating:
“WE COULDN’T IDENTIFY YOU AS THE PERSON WE NEEDED TO CONTACT” or similar words to that, although having received the message one would think they must really know who I am, so why bother to send a message at all. I was beginning to think I was an ALIEN FROM ANOTHER PLANET.
