The momentous unveiling of Seaford’s Community Bench is to take place on 1st May at Splash Point, Seaford.
Come and join this exciting event and witness the launch of this fantastic sculptural creation, which will, without doubt, be a great attraction that any visitor to Seaford will not want to miss. Residents who have supported this project by donating a fish will be able to see their dedications on the first section of the installation.
The brainchild of Gabby Tofts, an inspirational gardener, and Christian Funnell, a renowned local sculptor, The Shoal has drawn enthusiastic attention since the outset. Gabby and Christian were selected by The Seaford Community Partnership, working in conjunction with East Sussex County Council, to bring this project to life. Examples of Christian’s work can be seen in Seaford’s Peace Garden and at Birling Gap. He always endeavours to bring the visitor a sense of engagement with the unique qualities of a given place, and has exceeded these expectations with The Shoal and the captivation of Splash Point.
Crowds will be gathering from 12.30 in readiness for the arrival of the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, who will be performing the opening ceremony with the Mayor Seaford at 13.00. The place will be buzzing with live music from a variety of performers and there will be a seafood barbecue in honour of the event!
“This stunning sculptural bench will benefit the whole community – a destination with breathtaking views of Seaford Head and Seaford Bay for all to sit a while and enjoy,” Gabby Tofts.
