Feel good fitness rave on Hastings Pier

Active Hastings, a partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council, organised an all ages fitness rave on Hastings Pier last Thursday evening (17th August).

Cllr Andy Batsford, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for leisure, attended the event. He said, “The fitness rave 2017 on the pier was that perfect mix of our sports and leisure teams’ creative commitment to the health of our town and the rich history of those amazing all night raves in the 90’s on the old pier. I want to say a massive well done to all the leisure team for organising the event, the Hastings youth council who applied for and won a large part of the funding and provided security, and most importantly to the people of Hastings who looked amazing raving into the night!”

He added, “This fun, feel good, healthy event is helping Hastings to become a more active town; Hastings’ residents clearly approve, as attendance numbers doubled this year to nearly 300! Participants got into the swing by turning up in bright coloured clothes and learned rave moves such as “feeding the chickens” and “the sprinkler” so they could let loose, rave out and follow an easy fitness routine to high-energy music. “

Active Hastings is all about increasing the number of people who are active for a minimum of 150 minutes per week.
