Eastbourne, Your help is needed!

The Open University and Creative Agency, “We Are Tilt” are filming at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre, and they need an audience. Come along for some free laughs and attendees might even be captured on film!
A foul-mouthed smorgasbord of the UK’s finest new talent, descends upon Eastbourne for an evening of hilarious, irreverent, stand-up comedy… And best of all, it’s free!

The belly laughs are headed up by the unlikely battle-rap champions turned razor sharp comedians, Wollard & Marlow (AKA Shuffle-T and Marlo), who were recently described in The Guardian as “Posh but adversarial, reducing hardened battle-rap opponents to laughter”. And now, they’re gonna do the same for an unsuspecting Eastbourne audience!

Comedians, Woolard & Marlow are on a quest to find the perfect profanity past or present, as part of a project by the Open University and Creative agency, We Are Tilt. On the way, they’ll meet experts on the subject matter, and chat to them to gently touch on the OU learning objectives through humour. After carrying out their investigations during the course of the day they need to test the theories on an audience in the evening. That’s where the good people of Eastbourne come in.

The evening has been called “Only F**ks and Curses” and is FREE to attend. To help out a number of other up and coming comedians will be enrolled to take part. Comedians will be announced on the Royal Hippodrome Theatre’s website. It has already been confirmed that they will be joined by Channel 4’s Sean Burke (Hollywood Hyjack). The show will be about an hour, the bars will be open and attendees will (hopefully) be enlightened through comedy.

Caution is of course advised. The event will -as the title suggests- include swearing and so only those who will not be offended need apply. Naturally Over 18s only allowed.

As the event is being filmed and the organisers need as many as people as possible in the audience – it will be extremely frowned upon should people get tickets and then not bother to turn up. So people are asked to only get tickets if they can definitely make the date. Darren Weir from the theatre said, “It’s important that as a community theatre we arrange events like this. We are all about discovering new work, pushing limits and trying new things. So when Tilt and the OU approached us and asked us to help with this interesting project – we of course said yes. It means that locals also get a free night out at the theatre and its all about people re-discovering the Royal Hippodrome.”

That date is Friday 9th February at 8pm. Tickets are available at the box office on 01323 80 20 20 or online www.royalhippodrome.com
