Well being an international star might be stretching things a bit, but perhaps the potential is there to be one?
Yes we need to examine this and look at what has happened, to whom, why and when before any verdict! Let’s make it simple then and the columnist is The Psychy Poet Laurie Wilkinson, but his photo at the top may have provided a clue anyway.
Laurie had one of his poems read out on Magic Radio, the Lynn Parsons show “Mellow Magic” for World Poetry Day Wednesday 21st March, and how it can about was a shock indeed.
On her show (Monday – Friday 20.00 – Midnight), Lynn invites people to message, email, text etc in to the show to say what they are doing or make a request. Laurie first contacted to say he was a poet and was writing whilst listening to the mellow sounds. A dialogue had ensued with Laurie being mentioned on air a few times.
While writing at home on World Poetry Day, Laurie got a message from Lynn at Magic inviting him to send in a poem for her to read live to celebrate the day. A “short and sweet” poem that would be appropriate was requested, duly sent in and subsequently read out to a world wide audience.
The poem read out then, and from Laurie’s first book “Poetic Views of Life” comes a romance poem called “Unknown Journey”….
Unknown Journey
The very beauty of the gift
Was that it was not seen or showing,
We did not know or notice
That something great was growing.
You sailed in your ship, I in mine,
No other course was charted.
We journeyed on across our seas
Unaware just what had started.
I did not know but I looked for you,
Your way, your eyes, your smile.
A touch can take our breath away
And be felt from near a mile.
But the greatest star was yet to shine
Beaming light from sky to sea.
I was manic, laughing , flying
When you said you cared for me!
Simple but amazing to our columnist, which surely goes to show what can happen, and adds to Laurie’s growing list of achievements and recognition. Fear not, despite all this you can still read his monthly article and poems!
And of course still buy his books that from sales he donates to the charity Help for Heroes.
