Littlehampton Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club (AFVBC) has received a generous £1000 donation from local housebuilder Barratt Homes as part of its Community Fund programme. Barratt Southern Counties is currently building a number of developments across West Sussex, including in Storrington.
Barratt Southern Counties launched its Community Fund last year, which sees the division donate £1000 per month to a local charity or organisation that is going above and beyond to improve the quality of life of those living in the division’s local area. The donation is set to go towards subsidising the cost of the Littlehampton AFVBC’s twice-weekly breakfast, which will enable all veterans and members of the Armed Forces to attend regardless of their financial situation.
Lynnette St-Quintin, Sales & Marketing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “After meeting with the Littlehampton Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club in 2018, we were impressed to find out about the work that the charity does to help local veterans, and have worked hard to offer our continued support where possible. Our Community Fund is designed to help out local, hard working charities such as these and to offer something back into the communities where we build new homes.”
Littlehampton Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club is a cornerstone of the Armed Forces community in its local area, providing a regular social gathering for current and former service men and women to meet up. On returning to mainstream society after active duty or leaving the forces, many service men and women struggle to reintegrate into their communities and often suffer from PTSD and loneliness. The club offers a space in which they can meet with like-minded people that have had similar experiences, as well as allowing a great opportunity to socialise which would otherwise be unavailable.
Ian Neville, Chairman at Littlehampton Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club, comments: “We at the Littlehampton AFVBC are more than just a breakfast club. We are a community of like-minded ex-military veterans offering peer to peer support with signposting and providing initial welfare support to any veterans we find in need. This kind donation from Barratt Southern Counties will most certainly be used by the club’s admin team to benefit the greater military family within our community, and we would like to thank Barratt so much for its support.”
Barratt Southern Counties has just one remaining home at its Warren Grove development in Storrington, West Sussex, around 13 miles from Littlehampton. To find out more, visit www.barratthomes.co.uk or call 0333 355 8598.
