The Thrills of Vegas at Brighton Charity Ball

50 VIP guests were treated to a sneak preview of this years’ Midsummer Ball at the Launch Night in the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Thursday (12 March 2020).

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People’s Annual Midsummer Ball, in partnership with Hilton Brighton Metropole will be on 20 June 2020, which raises funds to help the young people of Sussex. Funds raised will support the work of Chestnut Tree House, The Starr Trust, Sussex Beacon, You Raise Me Up, and last night, our launch showed a sneak preview of what the evenings guests should expect.

The themed event is well-known for its dance and singing competition with local personalities taking part in the charity challenge, which is organised by entertainment company and sponsor, E3. This year guests will be transported to the bright lights of Vegas. Those challenged to entertain for the evening are: Ian Poysden for Starr Trust, Penina Shepherd for Sussex Beacon; Natalie Cribb and John Robinson on behalf of You Raise Me Up and Sean Lineker and Naomi Keddie for Chestnut Tree House. Our contestants are generously donating their time to raise money and bring a little razzle dazzle to the ballroom.

Compered by David Hill from E3, The Midsummer Ball guests will be treated to a sumptuous banquet and fine wines sponsored by Hilton Brighton Metropole as well as an opportunity to enjoy the famous indoor dodgems generously sponsored again by Cardens Accountants. Money raised on the night will be through a variety of fundraising initiatives, including a game of ‘heads and tails’, a trip to Vegas, a charity auction and our brand new ‘Grab a Gift’ game.

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People provides important equipment, resources, care, training and opportunities for sick, disabled and disadvantaged young people to improve their health and education so that they are able to fulfil their potential. Through local grant giving they support the work of small charities to help the young people that they care for.

Sascha Koehler, General Manager of the Hilton Brighton Metropole, said: “I would like to thank everyone who attended this launch for our ball, which promises to be an extraordinary event, and one which we are very proud to host. Once again we have been overwhelmed by the support of the
local community and everyone’s generosity and we are looking forward to seeing what the Ball can do to help raise these necessary funds”.

Simon Sheehan, Director of DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, said “What a fantastic night! The generous and warmhearted guests we spoke to tonight have raised the bar for what I believe we can achieve with this year’s ball, and I am excited for the event itself. Vegas here we come!”
