The Havens Community Hub CIC has welcomed a new Director to their board.

Recognised in the Queens New Year Honours list in 2016 with a British Empire Medal for her dedication to community work for over 40 years, Marilyn Nolan works with a variety of local charities and groups across the Havens area including the Seaford Musical Theatre (Barn Theatre), Meridian Mature Citizens Forum and the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).

Raising tens of thousands of pounds for local charities by hard work and dedication, Marilyn is also known for her baking, having won the Peacehaven annual show title for the last ten years.

Fellow Hub Director, Michaela Twaits, said “having known Marilyn for over twenty years, I’m delighted she has made time to support our work in the community. We are currently working remotely and quickly changing our provision to meet whatever needs come our way – for example, working with Fareshare to redistribute food and prevent waste and landfill, because other groups are having to close temporarily.”

The Havens Community Hub is a not-for-profit local support organisation supporting local charities, forming projects to meet local needs and offering volunteer opportunities. For more details visit their website at www.havenscommunityhub.co.uk
