Christopher Biggins Pledges Support To Community Hub

Former ‘I’m A Celebrity’ Jungle King and well known actor, Christopher Biggins has pledged his support in a video to the Havens Community Hub campaign on the Crowdfunder platform – www.crowdfunder.co.uk/silverlinings

Backed by East Sussex County Council ‘Projects That Matter’, donations are currently being doubled at no extra cost to the donor.

During the lockdown period, the Hub has changed the way it works and is now supporting over fifty older, isolated or vulnerable people in the coastal stretch between Saltdean and Seaford (The Havens).

Forming a new partnership with FareShare, they are redistributing over 100kg a week of surplus produce that would normally be sent to landfill and have resourced non-perishable tinned foods for local foodbanks serving the area.

They will also be providing a base and free resources for local charities and groups and are helping to launch a new community transport service to enable people to reach medical appointments and return to normal lives post lockdown.

Director of the Hub, Marilyn Nolan B.E.M, thanked all the supporters who have so far donated over £4,000 of their £5,000 target including the ‘donation’ of a birthday, where people were asked to support the project in lieu of presents and the many other personal pledges.

“The Silver Linings Project recognises the spirit of the volunteers, partnerships and good work that has come from this unprecedented and challenging time and we would like to thank everyone who is going above and beyond both within the Hub and from other supporting organisations.”
