Miranda Hart’s Work in Progress show that she’s bringing to The Hawth on Thursday 3 October ahead of her major UK tour has broken all records at the theatre selling out all 855 seats at the theatre in just four hours today Thursday 19 September).
Because of the anticipated demand for the show and to avoid people attempting to sell on tickets for a profit, the promoters of the show limited sales to six per person and to telephone and in person sales only. Queues started forming an hour before going on sale at noon on 19 September and by 4pm all seats had been sold.
Dave Watmore, General Manager at The Hawth said, ‘We were very lucky to be offered Miranda’s new show in which she will be trying out new material in advance of her tour which culminates with two nights at London’s O2’.
‘We have a very good relationship with the promoter going back many years, it’s the same promoter we were able to secure the recent Russell Brand date which also sold out in August.’
‘The staff did a terrific job in serving the queue and taking all the calls in record time – especially as there were customers booking for other shows in the autumn season including the pantomime Cinderella’.
Miranda’s show is the latest show in The Hawth’s Comedy Season sponsored by Vines of Gatwick. Future shows in the season include Milton Jones, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Radio Show with Mitch Benn and Clive Anderson, Sandi Toksvig, Paul Foot, Jenny Éclair in Grumpy Old Women Live and Lee Nelson.
