A pony stuck on the floor at Ends place Farm, Warnham, West Sussex prompted the call out for The Technical Rescue Unit, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday in the heavy rain.
Concern was first raised when the pony was found on the floor unable to get itself up so Judy Scrine of Mayes and Scrine (Equine Veterinary Practice) was called to make an initial assessment. It was Judy who then called for the Fire rescue to assist in getting the pony to his feet.
Upon arrival the Fire service found Polo a 32 year old pony on the floor half in and half out the stable door way and after some wriggling and assistance they managed to get a meter out outside the stable and get Polo to his feet.
Unfortunately some hours later Lisa, who had owned Polo for 28 or his 32 years made the very difficult decision upon vet advice to have Polo put to sleep.
Lisa has many years of memories and would like to pay tribute to such a fantastic member of the family.
