A Horsey Kind of Christmas

Christmas is upon us, and I’m no more inclined to write a lengthy column that you are to read it. So I want to share with you a little ditty I’ve been working on for over a year. I had the first verse some time ago, but only managed the other two and the chorus a few weeks ago. My apologies to Joan Javits, who wrote the song, but when I’m riding along on Bit, and my mind starts to wander, sometimes it ends up in very strange places indeed. So here goes:

Santa Baby, I really want a peppermint stick,

salt lick,

some crunchy apples will do.

Santa Baby, so hurry to the stable tonight.

Santa Baby, I really want a bale of hay

today,

more crunchy apples, too.

Santa Baby, so hurry to the stable tonight.

Think of all the carrots I’ve missed.

Think of all the fillies that I haven’t kissed.

I really do believe in you,

let’s see if you believe in Bit, too.

Santa Baby, there’s one thing that I really do need.

The deed!

To an apple farm!

Santa Baby, so hurry to the stable tonight.

From all of us at Critter Cottage, we wish you a very Happy Christmas, and a healthy, prosperous New Year. See you in 2018.
