A Potpourri of Disappointments!

I always think that when it comes to Christmas, one would think of that adage of “Goodwill to all Men” but there are a few that act like Scrooge every day of their lives and I wonder why?  Is it because they have a guilty secret that they want to hide every day?  Neighbours play a very big part in our corner of the world and the majority of them have the spirit of Christmas in their hearts.

Deal or No Deal

That is the big question that faces the United Kingdom in their bid to get away from Brussels who have persistently placed obstacles in the Brexit way. It is not entirely the Prime Minister’s fault that the deal she has, has gone “Pear Shaped.” If the members of Parliament of the different parties are going to keep bickering about Brexit, and as they claim that they could do a better job, perhaps the Prime Minister should take a back seat and offer the job to someone else and if that happens then the Conservative Party will lose their battle to stay in control which might not be a bad thing.

This brings me to another point and I am sorry to add another adage “Suffer Little Children” the House of Commons are supposed to consist of grown adults and it makes me shudder to think that these people are our Government and rule this country.  Having viewed their behaviour patterns in Parliamentary broadcast, it always seems like an unruly mob of people, shouting and heckling other members on some local important issues and very noticeably when an important decision has to be passed by a majority, there don’t seem to be many members there and I wonder if the Parliament of today has lost its way of being truthful.

Do you remember, Noel Edmonds game of Deal or No Deal where boxes containing hidden amounts of money and the players have to guess the box that holds the most money.   It is a bit like this Government playing Russian Roulette with the lives of the United Kingdom’s residents and their legislation which has been passed down to the Local and County Councils with excuses of closing down essential services when money seems to be tight but only when it suits them, but not enough to stop them having a pay rise.

Going back to Ebenezer Scrooge.  After the visitations of the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, he did learn his lesson and became a model citizen as Charles Dickens wanted to convey.  It is a pity that the members of our Government, County and Local Council members can’t become model citizens and do the decent thing at least once in their life time!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR READERS!
