This Saturday (16 July) there is a unique opportunity to buy art from a very special car boot sale at the Stade Open Space, Hastings as part of the Stade Saturdays programme of events.
The Art Car Boot Fair is an original idea by Karen Ashton and has been developed by Karen and her sister Helen Hayward in London since 2004. Their aim is for the Art Car Boot Fair to be a day when artists let their hair down and for all-comers to engage with art in a totally informal way, and to pick up some real art bargains to boot!
“This is your chance to buy a one-off piece of art direct from the artist – some of them very big names indeed, such as Tracey Emin, Gavin Turk and Sir Peter Blake” said Cllr Dawn Poole, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for culture.
“Car boots will open at 12 noon, overflowing with local and London talents including an exciting new collaboration with Marcus Harvey whose exhibition opens on Saturday at the Jerwood Gallery. There will also be Hastings exclusive prints from Sir Peter Blake, Tracey Emin, Keith Coventry, Gavin Turk, plus a talking Chicken Town hand- print from John Cooper Clarke and hand painted album covers containing the latest vinyl release from Turner prize winning artist Martin Creed & Band who will also be performing live” added Cllr Poole.
The Art Car Boot Fair takes place at the Stade Open Space Hastings on Saturday 16 July – 12 noon – 4 pm. Entry is £3.00 (free after 3pm)
Participation in the Art Car Boot Fair is by invitation only.
