Bluebells return in abundance to Seaford Head Golf Course

Seaford Town Council’s Green Keeping team at Seaford Head Golf Course were this week delighted to see that their environmentally friendly hard work had paid off and parts of the golf course were awash with reinvigorated bluebells.
This follows the introduction of a new environmentally sustainable method of managing the “rough” areas of the course, introduced by Simon Lambert the new Head Green Keeper, who had previously been the Deputy Head Green Keeper for 15 years there.
Simon said “It was an amazing site as you went up the 14th fairway and there were all these bluebells that had not been there for years. I was over the moon”. Which is appropriate as the adjacent nature reserve is home to the rare Mooncarrot plant.
The Green Keepers at Seaford Head adhere to strict environmentally friendly methods of green keeping in accordance with the strict rules of Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). This ensures that the course and the Nature reserve environment is kept in a natural state for the local ecosystem.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the course to view the bluebells and are asked to walk down the side of the fairways when visiting to enable the golfers to continue playing.
Why not pop into The View and get direction to the areas with bluebells at Southdown Road, Seaford, BN25 4JS? Everyone is welcome, it’s the community’s venue It would be great to see local residents using the new facilities at The View, you could even sit with a drink or meal and enjoy the amazing panoramic views this weekend before enjoying your walk to the bluebells, the amazing Seafront at Seaford or the Coastguard Cottages at Cuckmere.
