t the Peacehaven Horticultural Show on Sunday 7th August, Havens Champion Baker Marilyn Nolan, B.E.M, retained the Cornelius Cup with a record breaking 75 points, claiming her sixth consecutive annual win.
Marilyn, 69, was awarded the British Empire Medal for voluntary service in January this year and puts her baking skills to good use each week, preparing cakes and pastries for charity events and for friends and family.
She has been encouraged to enter the Great British Bake Off, but modestly says that she prefers plain baking and would not be able to compete in some of the more complicated creations.
At the same time her husband, Patrick Nolan, 73, won several awards for his cut flowers and received the Rose Bowl for the best single bloom in show.
