There is plenty of magic and excitement galore this Christmas at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells now that Sleeping Beauty is in town until Wednesday 3rd January 2019!
There is certainly no sleeping, as this production is packed with comedy, music, dance, lavish sets and costumes and some fabulous CGI animation. There’s even a flying fairy and an amazing fire breathing dragon, all topped off by an absolutely fabulous cast.
First up, Claire Sweeney is really enjoying starring as the evil Carabosse!
Claire has recently been seen on stage, starring as Irene Roth in Crazy For You, Baroness Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray (all on National Tour). Before this Claire toured the hit show Sex In Suburbia, which she co-wrote, following a hugely successful run at the Royal Court Liverpool.
Claire’s West End roles include Roxie Hart in Chicago and Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, playing opposite Patrick Swayze. She played the title role in Educating Rita alongside Matthew Kelly and Paulette in the UK tour of the award winning Legally Blonde.
Derek Moran adds tons of crazy fun and laughter as Silly Billy!
Derek has appeared on many TV shows including Top of the Pops, The Saturday Show, Ministry of Mayhem, MTV, This Morning, The Late Late Show and Ireland AM. He is currently a leading presenter on Channel 5’s successful kid’s channel, Milkshake. In addition to presenting he recently directed the Milkshake Summer Fun and Festive Fun television series and the Milkshake Live Show at Glastonbury. Derek is creative director of Milkshake’s current national theatre touring show: Milkshake Live – The Magic Story Book, in which he also appears.
And Quinn Patrick flirts with the audience and dazzles in some incredible costumes as Nurse Nelly!
Back, by popular demand, following his hilarious performance last year as Widow Twankey, Quinn won a scholarship to Mountview Theatre School and graduated with a BA Honours Degree. He joined a national tour of The Wind in The Willows, playing Toad. Further theatre credits include Teddy in Arsenic and Old Lace, Judd in Bouncers, Norman in Lucky Sods, Dt Sgt Davenport in Funny Money, George in I’ll Be Back Before Midnight and Hooper in Kindly Keep It Covered.
Musical roles include Mr Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors and more recently, as Chief O’Reilly in Bananaman The Musical. He has appeared in many children’s shows and pantomimes, playing Dame, Ugly Sister, The Cowardly Lion and Baloo the Bear. Quinn is also a regular on the stand-up circuit, having debuted his own one man comedy show Shut your Cakehole at The Edinburgh Festival and at sell out London shows.
Sleeping Beauty is produced by UK Productions in association with the Assembly Hall Theatre, with choreography by Regan Shepherd, direction by John-Jackson Almond, and lighting design by Joe Hornsby. The production runs until Wednesday 3rd January 2019, with matinee performances on most days.
