Hundreds of brave young knights from across the South East gathered at Hastings Castle to battle a fierce dragon last Saturday May 13th.
The West Hill attraction hosted its first ‘Dragon Day’ with four metre long animatronic Flame as the star attraction.
Over 1000 guests descended on the Castle to enjoy the family fun day, which also included performances from local drummers Samba Lanco and Hannah’s Cat Morris dancers.
Guests enjoyed meeting Flame the Dragon, arts and crafts, fun and games as well as face painting by local company Wriggles and Giggles and performances by Legend Quest interactive storytellers.
Hastings Castle’s sales and marketing executive Leanna Lawson said: “Dragon Day was hugely popular with hundreds of guests enjoying the sun and activities in the grounds.
“Flame was the highlight of the day, especially when he started dancing with Samba Lanco!
“ We want to say a huge thank you to all the organisations who helped make the day possible, the staff at the Castle, as well as the visitors on the day.”
Dragon Day is one of many events the Castle has hosted in recent years and organisers hope to put on many more, including the possibility of a petting zoo.
Leanna added: “The Castle is the heart of our town and we want to remind people how spectacular it is.
“All of our events have been really popular and we can’t wait to host more later this year.”
