Duchess of Richmond receives over £9,000 for Winston’s Wish

On Wednesday 31 January 2018, the Duchess of Richmond received a cheque for the sum of £9,080 on behalf of Winston’s Wish, the national children’s bereavement charity. The money was raised through Classics on Track for Children, an event held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit last June.

The Duchess, who is President of Winston’s Wish, received the cheque from Paul Auston, who conceived Classics on Track for Children with Michael Milligan in 2014 as a way of raising money for charities close to their heart whilst enabling owners of classic sports and GT cars to get out and enjoy the historic Circuit.

Money was raised through a drivers’ dinner and a prize draw, with several prizes generously donated by the Duchess. Supporters, family, friends and spectators also gave donations for passenger rides in the stunning selection of cars. The event will take place again, on 6 June 2018.

After receiving the cheque, the Duchess said; “Winston’s Wish is very grateful to Paul Auston and Michael Milligan of Classics on Track for Children, as well as to Frank Slevin and Andrew Sharp who sponsored the day. This donation will support our work in West Sussex, helping children build resilience after the death of a parent.”

“It is terrific that Classics on Track for Children will be returning to Goodwood this year and we look forward to hosting this brilliant event again.”

Auston, who was joined at the presentation by Andrew Sharp, CEO of E Spares and Frank Slevin, Chairman of House of Fraser Group – both sponsors of Classics on Track for Children – said; “We had a most fabulous day at Goodwood last year and owe a great deal of thanks to all of the Motor Circuit staff and marshals for helping us. We had a wonderful paddock line-up and the day ran like a dream, with everyone getting a fabulous amount of time on track.

“With donations and some very kind sponsorship it is our great pleasure to be able to present this cheque to Her Grace, the Duchess of Richmond, for Winston’s Wish.”
