Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat was launched in yesterday afternoon following a report from a beach angler of an object in the water.
Searching the surf line in liaison with mobile coastguard officers in 30 knot winds several large clumps of seaweed were found but nothing more sinister. The search was eventually abandoned shortly after 5pm
