These days £10 will buy you, on average, 7.63 litres of petrol, 2.9 pints of beer, 7.4 loaves of bread or, now that Eastbourne Theatres have launched their Under 25’s ticket incentive to encourage younger audiences into the Devonshire Park Theatre, you could get yourself a great night out instead – as younger theatregoers can enjoy a huge discount on tickets to see a range of top class shows.
This special scheme is running for the spring season, but if demand is strong the theatres hope to roll it out across the rest of the year. Anyone under the age of 25, regardless of whether they are in full or part-time education or not, can purchase a ticket for just £10, which is a saving of over 50%!
The scheme applies to the Devonshire Park Theatre, which has a particularly strong spring season for 2014 with some of the biggest touring drama shows heading to the grade II listed building. The Under 25 ticket applies to all of the following shows: a stunning adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’s deeply moving World War One love story Birdsong (12th – 15th February), comedy with the brilliant Warwick Davis, who stars in the hilarious new version of See How They Run (17th – 22nd March) and the gothic classic Bram Stoker’s Dracula (18th – 22nd February).
Other shows included in this incredible £10 ticket offer are: Kindertransport (25th February – 1st March) which is set against the foreboding clouds of war of 1938, an all-male version of HMS Pinafore (3rd – 8th March), Poirot is back in Agatha Christies Black Coffee (10th – 15th March). The brilliant, explosive adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (25th – 29th March) by the brilliant Filter in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Morcambe (1st – 5th April) based on the life of the brilliant Eric Morcambe, In Praise of Love (8th – 12th April) presented by the acclaimed Talking Scarlett, Classic Ghost Stories (22nd – 26th April) and the Oliver Goldsmith comedy She Stoops to Conquer (29th April – 3rd May).
Theatre General Manager Gavin Davis said of the scheme: “We are really excited to be launching this new ticket price for the under 25’s. We strive to make the theatres as accessible as possible to everyone with a range of ticket prices. We’ve worked with the producers of the spring season to make this possible and very much hope that it is a success to enable us to continue this discount ticket scheme.”
