Eastbourne RNLI lifeboat rescues anglers

Eastbourne RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew were tasked on Sunday afternoon (22 May) to recover an angling boat with four people on board which had suffered engine failure.

The 23ft leisure angling boat was 8 miles southeast of Sovereign Harbour when the cooling system failed on their vessel causing the engine to dangerously overheat. The anglers contacted Dover Coastguard for help who in turn requested the assistance of Eastbourne RNLI. The all-weather lifeboat stationed at Sovereign Harbour launched and was on scene shortly after. A towline was attached, the stricken vessel was then returned to the marina from where it had departed earlier.
