Everest Challenge 2015 still on for local climber

Andy Clark is no stranger to climbing mountains, having scaled the dizzying heights of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Aconcagua in Argentina and Island Peak in Nepal, amongst many others, however, he is now starting the arduous task of preparing for his biggest challenge to date. In less than a year’s time Andy will be attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

Andy will be scaling the mountain from the Northern, Chinese side. This side of the mountain traditionally has less climbers compared to the South Nepali side, which was subject to the deadly avalanche in April this year in which 16 Sherpas lost their lives.

“people have expressed more concern about the expedition in view of the recent tragedy on the South side and even thought the expedition would not go ahead” explained Andy, “this is a completely different route though, one that is generally not as popular with climbers and I’m more determined than ever to scale the North side and reach the summit.”

And it’s not just Andy who is in training. His wife, Nadine Clark, a keen hiker and climber herself, is working with him as his training partner to ensure he is best prepared for the task.

“I’m delighted to be supporting Andy with the training but I’m also quite happy to leave the summit climb to him” said Nadine.

The couple have a detailed training schedule over the next twelve months and are looking forward to reporting on their progress to keen climbers and extreme sports fanatics. They have already started to gain support and encouragement from people connecting with them through social media. If you would like to keep up to date with their training events and ultimately with the climb itself in March 2015, you can connect with them on Twitter @aceverest and @kelseyplanthire.

If you are a local company and would like to support the climb either financially or by donating equipment or clothing in return for sponsorship and marketing exposure, then please contact Andy’s marketing and press manager, Samantha Payne, at samantha@cleartimebusinesssupport.co.uk or by calling 01444 473569.
