Families from across the Arun District found their way to fitness after completing three free family orienteering sessions run by Arun Wellbeing.
The events were introduced in recognition that time and commitments often get in the way of families taking regular exercise together.
Families used their orienteering skills to identify landmarks found in a park, uncover hidden letters to spell a word which revealed the location of a treasure chest where prizes such as water bottles, lunch boxes and medals were won.
Those who took part learnt about birds such as swans, robins and blackbirds, tree leafs and trees.
There were 50 adults and 60 children who attended the three sessions in Mewsbrook Park, Littlehampton, Swanbourne Lake in Arundel and Hotham Park in Bognor Regis.
Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Arun District Council, said: “Families often struggle to stay fit so it is a really good thing that Arun Wellbeing has offered these sessions to address this need.
“I am pleased to hear Arun Wellbeing will be running more family orienteering sessions again later this summer, so if you have missed out this time I would encourage you to come along.
“It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, how fit you are, as you can walk, or even run when enjoying orienteering together as a family.”
Arun Wellbeing will hold another family orienteering session in Wick during July, with other events planned around the school holidays.
