French Property Of The Week: ‘Chasselas’ – Poitou Charents South West France

kitchen1 3We have named our house ‘Chasselas’ from the grape type that grows across the front of the property and that provides us with a delicious sweet white table grape in September. The property dates from around 1850 when it was built as two houses to accommodate vineyard workers and their families who would have been employed by the local Cognac producers; hence the two front doors.  The facade and all the windows, are south facing so that even in the winter the house has plenty of light coming in.
