The Sussex Newspaper is proud to profile Gregory Gower, winner of The Sussex Newspaper’s 2019 Editor’s Choice Book Awards with his book The Adventures of Bertram Bear.
About Gregory Gower
I first started to write in the 1980’s – mostly poetry books all were published and they were all produced for the charity National Childrens Homes, now known as Action for Children NCH. It was in 2013 that my first novel was published and in 2016 The Adventures of Bertram Bear was published. Hopefully there will be 18 in all. 6 in each series. I was completely overwhelmed that I had won an accolade “Best Book of the Year Award 2019” chosen by the Book Section of The Sussex Newspaper. “Bertram Bear and the Rivals” will be my 12th book to be published early this year 2019.
I still write crime books and my next book of that genre is “A Baker’s Dozen & Another Baker’s Dozen” to be published next year 2020.
Editors Note: Even though the author suffers from an incurable disease Multiple Sclerosis, he has walked nine marathons for other charities. He was to have walked his tenth last year for his own charity MS, his Doctor, Wife and Chiroprator thought it was unwise as his affliction does have the habit of flaring up now and again and if he should fall he might end up in hospital.
The charities he has walked for are: Sudden Adult Death (SADS UK) and NCH Action for Children. He swam 101 lengths at the Sovereign Swimming Pool for NCH Action for Children 30 odd years ago also round about time participated as part of a team of three other members of British Gas where the author worked in. They swam for Eastbourne Lions a Relay Race which they won and because the author was the oldest member of the team he was allowed to keep the cup first for three months.
