On Thursday 5 October Hastings Youth Council met with the Hastings Borough Councillor deputy leader Councillor Kim Forward. It was a great opportunity for the new youth councillor members to meet with her and discuss their plans. The meeting was the first full youth council meeting since the newly elected youth councillors came into post in September. The youth council now has 25 active members who represent the young people of Hastings.
Cllr Kim Forward said :- “I think it’s really great that we have such an enthusiastic youth council, who are clearly passionate about their work. The youth council are recognised by many organisations and are regularly asked for their opinions on projects and initiatives in Hastings’. I was pleased to be able to meet them, and learn about their plans for the future.
Kieran, press officer for Hastings Youth Council, explained:-“A lot of planning has gone in to this year’s Hastings Youth Awards, nominations are open at www.HastingsYouthAwards.org until 27 October, and we expect the event to be even bigger than last year. It will be taking place at the Sussex Coast College on the 5th of November from 4 to 6 pm”. The Hastings Youth Manifesto is currently being drafted.
