Henrietta Hippo’s Funhouse is back! Saturday 1st February sees the first of a brand new monthly series of Saturday morning Children’s shows at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne’s Seaside Road. Last year there were four pilot shows which were very well received and, at advance ticket prices of just £4.00, the show offers exceptional value for money.
The purpose behind the shows is to introduce children aged from three to ten years old to live theatre. The show itself is, this year, produced by co-producers MM productions and Trap Door Productions Ltd and promises singing, dancing, games and educational elements with a new set and a great funhouse crew. If you remember old fashioned Saturday morning TV— imagine that, live on stage.
Each show is themed where children (and adults) are encouraged to come dressed up – with prizes for the best dressed! The first show in the new season has a pirates theme so get out those eye patches and stuffed parrots and come along for a swashbuckling time.
This year, the monthly show is hosted by the new team of Nikki and Damon. Both presenters are no strangers to the stage, or the classroom, with Damon being a qualified teacher. A swell as all the singing and dancing, there will be funny moments in the show – including Henrietta’s new cookery spot. With a hippo in the kitchen you can be sure that disaster looms!
A great morning’s entertainment, during this gloomy weather, is on offer at Eastbourne’s oldest theatre. The first show starts at 10.30am and tickets cost £4 in advance or £6 on the door—available from all usual outlets and Eastbourne Theatres Box Office on 01323 412000 or at www.royalhippodrome.com.
