Higgidy’s plans to expand in Shoreham approved

Nationally renowned pie manufacturer, Higgidy, will undergo a major expansion to their facilities in Shoreham-By-Sea.

Plans were approved this week by Adur District Council’s Planning Committee, subject to Section 106 agreement, for the development of new commercial buildings adjacent to Higgidy’s existing site, in Dolphin Road.

Floorspace for both office and general industrial use features in the plans, which include a 3 storey building, parking, a plant room and landscaping.

Martin Randall, Director for the Economy at Adur District Council, welcomed the news that the Shoreham based business will remain in the town:

“It’s really positive news that a growing and successful business like Higgidy are able to remain in Shoreham. The Council are keen to promote Adur as a place open for business, and applications like this will help provide new jobs and enhance our local economy.”

In the space of 10 years, Higgidy have expanded from a kitchen start up in Shoreham to employ over 250 people. It’s forecasted that the planned expansion to their facilities will bring in an additional 150 jobs over the next 5 years.
