Three comedians will perform an afternoon of clean stand-up for anyone over six-years-old during Comedy Club 4 Kids at Worthing’s Connaught Studio on July 20th at 2.00pm.
Comedy Club 4 Kids runs like any other adult comedy club. Surrealist storyteller Matthew Highton will be the afternoon’s MC followed by time-travelling Victorian magic act Morgan and West and then BAFTA-nominated comedian Iain Stirling. The show is designed to be suitable for everyone and does not patronise or alienate anyone in the audience.
Comedy Club 4 Kids began at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005 and subsequently moved to London’s Menier Chocolate Factory and the Soho Theatre from where they ran workshops for children which culminated in a stand-up show for their fellow young comedians. The show in its current guise was inspired by stand-up comedian for kids, James Campbell.
Past acts have included everyone from Phil Jupitus as Joop Joop the Panda to Stewart Lee and Ardal O’Hanlon. The comedians have come to expect heckling from the children and although the content of the shows is aimed at an audience older than six-years-old, it can be seen by anyone younger who is happy to concentrate for the hour of the show.
Comedy Club 4 Kids appears at the Connaught Studio, Union Place, Worthing BN11 1LG on Sunday July 20th at 2.00pm. Tickets, priced at £7.50, family of four £26, can be purchased from the box office on 01903 206 206 or online at www.worthingtheatres.co.uk.
