Lorna Ive joins the team at The Sussex Newspaper

I am  Lorna Ive, Menopause Specialist, Women’s health Advocate, Founder, ChangeMaker and Social Media Strategist. A mum to my 4 beautiful grown ups, a wife and fairy pug-mother to three pugs.

I am absolutely thrilled to be here for you as a regular columnist at The Sussex Newspaper, sharing with you my top tips for how to run a business and manage those hormones!

Welcome to “The hormonal journey of a Mumpreneur”

I own two businesses, my award winning LIVE grassroots campaign – a menopause digital platform. Creating conversations and awareness focusing across all stages of menopause and my Social Media Agency.

In my 40s I got into beauty pageants!

When I am not running my businesses, you can usually find me on my spin bike, paddle boarding along the river or taking part in a Ms Great Britain Final.

During the pandemic I bit the bullet and I trained and qualified as a  Pilates and Barre Instructor.

Yes, you read that right. Pageants are my new found hobby which I cannot wait to share more with you!

Who knew at the age of 49 I would discover the world of pageant competitions. I took part as a Finalist last year just prior to Covid-19. I enjoyed it so much that I have signed up for this year’s competition too –  I am a Ms Great Britain Classic Finalist 2021.

You can join me on my journey later this year as I will be sharing my excitement with you all.

Running a business and running a home as a mumpreneur is a lot of fun and a great way to manage working with flexibility. It can be tough going. I will help steer you in the right direction to ensure you are prepared and ready.

How did I arrive here at the age of 49 with two businesses as I am about to embark into my next decade – 50,  you may ask?

If you had asked me in my early forties I would of shook my head and said “no way”

I had always wanted to run my own business but had no idea how or where to start. As I look back and reflect I still cannot believe how far I have come!

Retraining and running my own businesses has been the best decision I have made and even more so at my age. I thoroughly enjoy the work I do and have had the opportunity to meet and network with amazing people.

My motto to share is “Seize the day”

What could be the worst that could happen? Go for it!

We don’t know what is around the corner, covid has definitely taught us how precious each day is and how important health is, all about seizing the day.

My passion for empowering mid-life women!

I am passionate, dedicated and committed to helping women globally to feel empowered.  I strive to advocate that midlife is for taking every opportunity and seizing the day! Providing real honest conversations about how life is for midlife women and how we can take charge of our later years with a positive mindset, looking after our health and kicking hormones and menopause into shape.

I’ll be sharing with you my experience and resources for starting and running a business. How to manage a business whilst running a busy home with a family and a partner.

Everything that involves our new way of “normal” life.

A very important lesson we can all take from this year is to make ourselves a priority for self care and wellness, for our mental health and wellbeing.

As we ease out of Lockdown, it would be great to create a supportive community here within the column. I will be here to provide support, advice and how best to navigate the coming months ahead.

It would be great to hear from you with your wins, your plans and stories.

In the future let’s hope we  will see an end to keeping sane with homeschooling, working from home and zoom fatigue.

I will share with you how I kept my businesses running during the pandemic, how I won two awards and offering my advice from what I have learnt during this time.

Regular advice on how to pivot and scale your business. You may be just about to start a new business and would like to know where to start, what you need to do and how to use social media to help your business stand out from the crowd.

Lorna will be writing a regular column for The Sussex Newspaper starting from next week.
