Lose weight by being WISE

Are you thinking of losing weight? You may wish to consider attending upcoming weight management courses run by Arun Wellbeing which are being offered at no cost to participants.
The 12 week Weight Information, Sensible Eating (WISE) courses give clear explanations about healthy eating, exercise and weight loss.

Residents who take part in the weekly hour long sessions will learn about how to live a healthier lifestyle, make small, meaningful changes to their diet in order to achieve positive results and tips on increasing the heart rate through exercises which can be done in the home.

Freedom Leisure, Arun District Council’s new leisure management contractor, is also offering reduced rate membership to people who complete nine or more of the WISE programme sessions.
Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Arun District Council, said: “Losing weight isn’t easy, especially when dieters are confronted by confusing food labelling and a wealth of technical jargon.

“These courses give clear steps on how to make the right food choices and provide creative exercises to try out which will help make your weight loss journey more fun.”
One woman lost more than a stone after signing up to the WISE course following reading about it on the Arun Wellbeing website.

She agreed weight loss goals with her Arun Wellbeing advisor and kept a food diary making a note of what she ate to help her make healthy meal choices.
“I feel so much more energetic and it has given me a new lease of life. I have been able to see where I was making mistakes, when I actually thought I was making healthy choices! So I am really glad with my results,” she said.

One course takes place at 1pm to 2.30pm from Wednesday, 1 June to Wednesday, 17 August at Yapton Village Hall.

A second course takes place at 6.45pm to 8.15pm from Tuesday, 12 July to Tuesday, 27 September at the Arun Leisure Centre, Felpham which is managed by Freedom Leisure.
